After the huge success of the Spring show, who knows what the Summer 2009 show will hold. What started as a fun little fundraising activity has turned into a marquee social and fundraising event in Raleigh, raising thousands of dollars for charities such as Habitat for Humanity, Alliance of AIDS Services Carolinas and now the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Each show consists of a wine tasting, fashion show showcasing the new season collection from Banana Republic and a silent auction of goods and services from some of the area's most premier vendors.
Every season we try to add a little twist to keep things interesting, but the formula largely stays the same. Enjoy some food and wine, enjoy some fashion, and help a good cause.
Keep checking for more details on this season's collection and the show. You don't want to miss out on this event!
It was in May of 2008 that Kendra Leonard, the Customer Experience Manager at Crabtree, was informed that her husband was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML)with a blast crisis.
In the last nine months, he has had full body irradiation, several high doses of chemotherapy, numerous bone marrow biopsies, a bone marrow transplant, and a bone marrow boost. None have been succesful longterm.
In late January he was accepted into a clinical trial at MD Anderson in Houston, TX. The clinical trial can last as little as one month or as long as three months, and the hope is that it will bring him into remission.
Until then we wait...and pray...and fight. One of the ways we combat this illness and support Kendra and her husband is by organizing these quarterly fashion shows. The intent behind the show is to not only raise money for the foundation, but to also inform others about the disease. In fact, all of the donations go towards research in cure for this terrible affliction. By working together we can all be what's possible...
